PIANO LESSONS IN HARROGATE

Teaching Philosophy

Coaching for motivated piano and music theory students of all levels, combining suitably challenging lessons with a relaxed, supportive environment where students feel confident to explore and make mistakes. Exam preparation (ABRSM, Trinity, LCM) is systematic, with bespoke resources available to target syllabus requirements.

Research-Informed Methodology

My teaching draws on established concepts in skill acquisition and cognitive psychology to design practice that manages cognitive load while developing robust motor skills and strengthening long-term memory. Guided discovery is enabled, alongside clear technical instruction; students develop problem-solving skills and critical reflection, while new concepts are carefully scaffolded to build confidence and clarity. Repertoire supports both technical development and expressive engagement.
