My work is published by 3 of the the world’s largest music companies, Universal, Warner/Chappell, BMG and high-end independents such as Evolving Sound and Boost Music. I have worked on over 50 albums which are used extensively in TV programming and advertising around the globe.

I composed the score to the award-winning BBC Film Harry Birrell Presents Films of Love and War, the follow-up TV series Films of Scotland (both narrated by Richard Madden) and the beautiful underwater documentary feature film Angel Azul.

I have created music for brands such as LG, Sky TV and Interpolis as well as providing additional music for hundreds of TV productions (Miracle Workers -Daniel Radcliffe, Top Gear, Masterchef) trailers (Tenet, Game of Thrones), and sporting events such as NBC’s coverage of the opening ceremony of the Rio Olympics and multiple live WWE events.

ONLINE LESSONS

Lessons are available online via video link using Zoom or Skype. Tuition can be provided live or you can be sent a bespoke, pre-recorded video lesson based on your questions or in response to a video of you playing. You will be given access to a user area where you can receive lesson notes, sheet music, video and audio examples and other resources. Please contact me for more information.

STUDIO LESSONS

Piano lessons take place on a Yamaha U1 piano which can be recorded in high quality using professional software. The studio is custom fitted with sound absorption from GIK acoustics, providers for many of the world’s top studios. A Komplete Kontrol S88 is used to play midi, allowing the student to experiment with different sounds or to record without the need for microphone set-up.

Composition lessons can take place within Logic Pro or Sibelius or at the piano. I specialise in mentoring budding film & TV composers and can assist in areas such as live & midi orchestration, production techniques, writing to picture, harmony and voicing.

The studio is set in an attractive garden in Harrogate. There is a small waiting area with tea and coffee available.
